MSC was contacted about hosting the team and arranging a series of friendly matches ("friendlies") and worked to secure other local sides, set-up the games. Teams played a series of three (3) 30-minute small-sided matches on the recently fully-refurbished East Soccer field at the FOD complex.
"I think it was a great experience for parents, coaches and most importantly, the players. Despite our different backgrounds it was great to see us come together for a shared passion and love for soccer", said Matt Mehler, MSC LSTS G2014 Head Coach. "Sometimes we take for granted that the United States is a world renowned destination for top education and women's soccer, evident in the growth of college soccer, NWSL and the supporting leagues that have flourished as of late. Credit to those from the Canadian club that invest their time and energy to expose the next generation to the opportunities that lie ahead. It was a privilege to be a part of the day and provide the platform for the kids to have an unforgettable experience", Mehler added.
